Gebze Technical University (GTÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. You can find the full text of Haluk Görgün’s interview, published in the 131st issue of MSI Magazine, below.
Turkey, defense and support of the largest technological depth, while increasing its activities in the field of aviation in this regard, will the university. In this process; Universities that can carry out serious R&D studies with their human resources and infrastructure and cooperate efficiently with the industry will step forward. The work of GTU, which started out with the claim of being such a university, was carried out by Rector Prof. Dr. We listened from Haluk Görgün.
Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN: While introducing my university; I always place the defense and aviation sector in the first place when explaining the infrastructure, academic staff and academic studies related to the university. This is something I do consciously. We are aware that the defense and aviation sector is the sector where all the leading technologies of our age are born and flourished. Also, we know that very intelligent and hardworking people serve in this sector. Defense and aerospace technologies, Turkey has set itself as a priority technology areas. Therefore, as the rector of a technical university, I examine the relevance of all the subjects we are interested in with defense and aviation technologies.
Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN: First of all, we need to emphasize that: We established the Defense Sciences Institute in order to be a partner in order to support defense technologies and industry companies directly, to work with them in R&D studies. This institute can meet the needs of our country and its companies in this field; focuses on topics such as electronics, informatics, mechanics and communication.
One of the first questions I asked when I came to GTU was who were our faculty members working in the field of defense and aviation technologies and who made projects in this sense, and what their work was. We have prepared the first of the catalogs in which we compile the activities of our university for defense and aerospace technologies. We had the opportunity to explain ourselves to both the General Staff and the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM). that we have efficient and competent human resources; We stated that we put defense and aviation technologies in the first place in our planning.
“What can we do, how can we contribute to the industry?” I can give an example to the answer to the question: We signed the Researcher Training Program for the Defense Industry (SAYP) protocol with SSM with 9 of our companies last November. Therefore, we are working on developing joint projects and improving the researcher profile and skills of those companies. The analyzes we have made for companies such as ASELSAN, HAVELSAN and ROKETSAN and the projects we work with these companies continue.
We are intertwined with the defense and aviation industry; but we want to make this cooperation more permanent and more permanent. We strive to carry out projects with higher impact value and evaluate all kinds of platforms.
Prof. Dr. Haluk GÖRGÜN: We have serious projects with ASELSAN in the field of electromagnetics. Again, there are projects we carry out in the field of robot technologies and communication. We are conducting card and software development projects with Netaş. If you are human in the field of aircraft, we are working with Kale Aviation on energy solutions for these vehicles.
